Make Your Own Leggy Planter with Sarana Haeata
Learn to hand build and glaze your very own leggy planters with artist Sarana Haeata across two-weekend sessions.
In the first session, students will learn a slab and coiling techniques to create the unique shape of their planters. By the end of this session, each student will have one or more forms ready for firing.
In the second session, Sarana will guide the group through glazing techniques that will best achieve each participant’s individual design.
Participants can collect their creations from Stackwood the following week and will get to choose an indoor plant to complete their work. This skill is easily transferable to your home space so you can keep creating!
All tools, materials and light morning tea will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring along their own aprons or borrow one of ours. This class gets messy!

Sarana is a ceramicist and illustrator who lives in the summery lands of Fremantle, WA. In 2014 she began her label Hang With Me Ceramics through which she creates handmade, bespoke planters and hanging pots. Her unique style focuses on the mark of the craftsman and how the imperfections in an object are actually what make it personal, connective and perfect. She works from a train carriage in her backyard and now has boutiques stocking her wares all over Australia.
