Stackwood is a creative venue located in the warehouse district of Fremantle.
Housed in a former diesel workshop, the Stackwood community encompasses a concept store full of plants and makers wares, studios, an event space and a cafe. With the recent addition of an online store our plants, pots and homewares are now also available for local pick up as well as for delivery within Perth metro.
Our mission is a simple one: to encourage a more wholesome way of living. Let’s meet our neighbours and share a nourishing meal. Let’s learn new (in fact, old) skills like propagating, crafting, cooking and making. Let’s invest in useful products that are good for us and good for our environment.
Here are a few things that are important to us.
Makers and creative businesses are an essential part of the Stackwood community. We currently have nine creative businesses in residence at Stackwood who write, photograph, shape, create and make. We showcase our makers in the Stackwood store, at our open studio events and our bi-annual Made Local Market.
Keeping it local
We believe in the value of supporting local producers, makers and service providers. Stackwood is a part of a vibrant and creative community and in our experience, great opportunities arise from local relationships. We also foster community by offering space for meetings and gatherings, plus by and hosting community events like our food and plant swaps, and our seasonal Made Local Market.
Learning and growing
Our workshop offering is a really important part of what drives us at Stackwood. When you learn a skill you’re making an investment. That new skill has quite a different value to a purchased product. You know the old saying ‘teach a man to fish…?’ Learning to make or do something also slows us down, encouraging a more mindful way of living.
We love nothing more than bringing communities together, be it within our studios, curated events or in hosting your community at our space. The Stackwood project is by no means complete and we’re planning more community events and many other exciting projects. Keep up with all our news and events on our Community page.
