Pilates with The Form Refinery

The Form Refinery is an industrial, boutique & contemporary Pilates studio focused on helping you make meaningful body and mind connections that you can apply to all aspects of your life. The Form Refinery uses intelligent movement combinations to transform the way your body moves and feels. Classes are precise and flowing, fusing elements of traditional mat Pilates with yoga and functional full-body fitness to enhance your Pilates experience.  Come expecting a deep full body strength building and conditioning workout in a light, refined space.

What to expect:

A flowing Pilates mat class where you’ll receive a total-body workout to tone, balance and stretch. You'll leave feeling longer, stronger and lighter. Classes are suitable for all skill levels.

What to bring:

Please bring your own mat. A limited number of mats are available for use should you wish to borrow one. Please wear loose, stretchy clothes that are comfortable and allow you to move freely.

About Kasey McCarthy:

A classically trained former professional ballet dancer with the West Australian Ballet, Kasey is passionate about sharing what she has learnt over the years regarding intelligent movement and deep strength training. She began teaching Pilates after completing her internationally recognised Stott Pilates Certification in 2009 and also holds a Cert IV in Pilates with Breathe Education.

Ye-Shi with Marc Wohling 

Ye Shi is a movement practice based on traditional Chinese martial arts and yoga. It works beyond the clichés to distill and decode the deeper concepts inherent in Chinese movement. Chinese societies have been refining their health and fitness practices for generations. Ye Shi offers a window into this world and the opportunity to study at a deeper level for those that are interested. It can be practiced as a complement to your current fitness regime.

What to expect:

Ye Shi can be both meditative and strong. You will learn to connect the breath with movement while improving strength, mobility and flexibility. The practice is a combination of mat based exercise and movements that utilise the unique Stackwood space.

About Marc Wohling:

Marc has been practising martial arts and yoga for 40 years. He is the only Lao Shr (teacher) in Australia from the renowned Wu Tang School of traditional Chinese martial arts. Marc believes in maintaining the beginner’s mind and that to teach is to learn. He’s keen to share his passion for Chinese based movement and to contribute to building a curious, vigorous and fresh movement community.
