Water Jug and Tumblers with Sally from Deep Earth Ceramics (multi-session)

$220.00

Join us for this special two session workshop with Sally Smith from Deep Earth Ceramics. Learn all about the fun and meditative craft of slab building to create your own water jug and ceramic tumbler set.

With dark stoneware clay you'll learn to assemble from a starting slab. Sally will guide you through any tweaks so you can customise the design of your works including carving techniques to decorate. In the second session you'll learn about the glazing process and finishing off your unique pieces in Sally's signature white glaze.

You'll have time to make a jug with a spout and handle, and at least four tumblers in this hands-on workshop series, of which you'll be able to experiment with style and form.

Works will be dishwasher safe but we recommend a hand wash for longevity.

All tools, materials and light morning tea will be provided. There are no previous skills required, simply bring your authentic self. Participants are welcome to bring along their own aprons or borrow one of ours.

Important details

Your piece will be fired and finished at Sally's home studio. Cost included in your ticket. A huge amount of care is exercised when finishing off your precious hand-made items. Please note that clay is unpredictable and on rare occasions, items break in the kiln. This is all a natural part of the fun of perfecting your craft.

Works will be available within ~4 weeks of the class date from the Stackwood store. You will be contacted when they are ready to pick up.

You must be able to attend both dates in this series as no make up classes with be available, unless under exceptional circumstances.

About Sally

Sally Smith discovered clay when she was just 5 years old. Since that day she has travelled many creative paths and all have brought her back to her first love; clay as a vehicle for expression. From her small garden studio in Fremantle, Sally creates unique pieces with emotional authenticity, preferring essential beauty over conventional perfection. Most importantly her work is made with love and designed for use each and every day.

Terms and Conditions

Please note this class requires a minimum of 6 attendees in order to run. All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. If you are unable to make your date you are able to send someone else in your place. You can find more details in our Terms and Conditions.
